Key Game Information and Nutrition Concepts the student will learn while in the

1. Color Coding
Explorers, you will discover that each section of the pyramid is a different color. Each
colored section is a different part of the food pyramid. This orange section is grain.

2. Grains
Grains are foods like cereal, bread, spaghetti, rice and crackers. Grains give you energy.

3. Fiber
Grains have fiber which helps to fill your tummy and is good for your heart.

4. Servings
You should eat about 6 ounces of grains every day. A slice of bread or a cup of cereal is
about 1 ounce.

5. Whole Grains
Try to make half of your servings “whole grains”. You can tell if something is a whole grain
because the name usually has the word “whole” in it.

Whole grains are the best source of fiber and other vitamins, too. Some whole grains are
whole wheat bread, whole grain pasta and oatmeal.
