List of Seeds And Nuts From the Protein Group
Nuts and seeds are also high in protein. Many people do not realize that nuts and seeds are another great source of protein, healthy oils like omega 3s, vitamin Bs and other essential minerals like magnesium, potassium, copper and iron.
Because these foods are packed with protein and high in healthy oils, you only need a handful to get a serving from the protein group. Calories can add up quickly if you eat handfuls of nuts. Teach children that one small handful is a perfect snack!
Note: Almonds and cashews are actually seeds but most people think of them as nuts. To keep in line with the USDA groupings, we have listed them under the Nuts section.
