Family Camping Planning List for a Fun Vacation

Friday Finds to Nourish Your Day:  

It’s Friday and we are happy to share these resources and materials to help you promote family camping to  nourish the children in your lives!

To help you get ready, I thought I would share my camping list.  But of course, you need to customize it to the things your family enjoy but it is a great start!

 
Tent ( we always get a larger tent then what it recommends. So if we are 2 people, we get a 4 person tent - I need a little more space!)
Tarp to put your tent on (you would be surprised how wet the ground gets overnight)
Hammer (for tent stakes)
Sleeping bags 
Sleeping pads or an air mattresses (get one that has its own inflate built in)
Pad/mattress repair kit
Pillows
Blankets
 
Folding chairs (one for each person in the family- if you can get one with cup holder, even better!)
Folding table (if needed, most camping sites provide a table and bench
 
Multi-tool or knife
Flashlights (one for each person)
Lanterns (with extra fuel or batteries)
Lantern fuel or batteries
 
 
Clothes should include warm clothing for evening (it can get chilli!)
hiking boots if you have them
Sun-shielding hats
Swimsuits
Boots or shoes suited to terrain
Gloves or mittens
Rainwear (jacket and pants) (depends on area)
Water sandals
 
Water bottles
Portable Stove
Propane
Matches/lighter
Charcoal (with fire starter)
Firewood (if allowed, plus saw or axe)
Grill rack
Frying pan
Cook pots
Pot grabber
Portable coffee
Bottle opener/corkscrew
Can opener
Food-storage containers
Resealable storage bags
Trash bags
Tablecloth 
Coolers
Ice
Plates, bowls, mixing bowls
Serving spoons
Utensils
Paring knife
Spatula
Whisk
Cutting board or cutting surface
Foil

Pot scrubber/sponge(s)
Paper towels/napkins
 
Make your list of meals you will eat and snacks and then create your shopping list.  Don't forget seasoning and oil/butter for cooking.
 
 
Toilet paper (depends on where you go, most camping grounds have toilet paper)
Sunscreen
Lip balm
Insect repellent
Hand sanitizer
First-aid kit 
Toothbrush, toiletry kit

Paperbacks/DVDs or e-Books
Radio or music player with headphones
