Are kids overloading on devices?

Posted on Jan 26, 2015 by Maggie LaBarbera

It is now common to see kids of all ages looking down onto their tablet, ipad, or smart phone.  With 1000s and 1000s and apps available, kids can find any type of interest in an app.  This might be translating into too many hours using devices and less time playing outdoors.

We are an online service too and often get asked if we are also contributing to the problem with our nutrition games.  Well, that is a fair question.  But learning about healthy eating does require some attention.  Like when you go to school, learning to read and write and do math requires attention and focus that you don't have when you are moving around, playing.

We believe that nutrition is just as important and we need children to focus and learn.  We make it fun by using our healthy chef character, Chef Solus, animations and nutrition games to promote healthy choices.

But we have a banner over every game and page that reminds children to please stop after 20 minutes of computer time and go and enjoy active playtime.  It is so important.

Nourish Thought for the Day:

Remind children that part of being a healthy child is limiting their screen time to 2 hours a day.
