When you are throwing a party or celebration for a larger group, something that is always popular and feeds a lot of people is a layered dip. Plus you can pack on the veggies! We specifically chose the layers of this dip because we wanted it to look like an American flag, but if you want your dip to resemble something different, there are so many options! A great thing about this dip, is that it can be made the day before your party, leaving you time to do other things the day of. Serve with blue corn chips for a great addition.
Directions
Kids: Begin by spreading refried beans as your first layer.
Adults: We love beans as our base because they provide protein, fiber, and lots of B vitamins. The amount you use, will depend on the size of crowd you are feeding. We used 2 cans of refried beans for our dip, and this made a 12×18 tray and will feed a lot of people.
Kids: Next is guacamole. You will need about 1 1/2 – 2 cups depending on how thick you like your guacamole.
Adults: This next layer can be done a few different ways. You can mix:
Adults: 4 oz cream cheese + 8 oz plain yogurt (or sour cream) + 2-3 Tbsp taco seasoning or 1 – 1 1/2 cups Jalapeno yogurt dip.
Kids: Sprinkle cheese on the entire thing. Normally you can just sprinkle a cheese blend over the yogurt layer, but for this flag you will need a white base for the flag.
Kids: Then the fun part is creating the flag! In the corner add rows olives sliced in half to resemble the stars.
Kids: Then take grape or cherry tomatoes and place in rows to look like stripes.
