Maple Apple Oatmeal

 
A healthy breakfast to give your kids so they are energized for their day!
 

Ingredients

 
  • Apple juice 2 cups
  • Water 11/2 cups
  • Maple syrup 1/3 cup
  • Salt (optional) 1/2 tsp
  • Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) 2 cups
  • Apple, chopped, fresh unpeeled 1 cup
  • Cinnamon, a dash (optional)
 

Directions

 
Kids: In a 3-quart saucepan add juice, water, syrup, cinnamon and salt.
Adults: Bring mixture to a boil. Stir in oats and apple.
Adults: Return to a boil; reduce heat to medium low.
Adults: Cook about 1 minute for quick oats (or 5 minutes for old fashioned oats or until most of the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally. Let stand until of desired consistency.

In the ingredients cinnamon is not listed but in the cooking directions it says add, how much needs to be added and/or is it optional?
