What are the benefits of walking your child to school? Well there are actually quite a few.
A study done in California showed that children who were more fit actually had better academic performance. In other words, there is a direct link between kids that are physically fit and doing well in school. How is that for a great reason to walk with your child to school each morning!
As children get older, they want to be more independent and go to school with their friends. That could mean walking, riding their bikes or taking the bus. If they have been walking with you to school regularly, they will have learned safe street habits at a younger age.
It's not rocket science but really common sense. If you walk to school, your child is getting regular exercise to and from the school and burning calories. But more importantly, they are building a habit of walking regularly which they can carry forth throughout their adulthood. One of the easiest exercises any of can do daily is walk.
With the cost of gas, well, need I say more!
